Eating High Energy Foods

Eating high energy foods is a great idea. Having energy is a major part of life. It enables you to do what ever can be done and if you don't have it you can't do anything.

I know this better than most people do. Some time ago I contracted a disease that left me without energy. I could walk 50 yards and then had to sit and rest. This went on for a few years. I'm better than that now. These days I can probably do about 30% of what a normal person my age can do (which is still pathetic). Believe me when I say that whatever you want to do with your life requires energy.

The main reason I started this web site was in the hope that my research on health topics would lead me to something that would be a help to me and I've now found something that might be it. I don't know how well it will work on someone like me but excellent results have been experienced by relatively 'normal' people and many with an assortment of physical problems.

It's an eating program put together by a man named Yuri Elkaim who is well known in Canada for his tireless work training and coaching many people in the field of Health, Nutrition and Wellness.

He has written an ebook called 'Eating for Energy' in which he details an eating program of high energy foods that he has developed over many years. This guy is the real deal. He has all the right qualifications and experience and writes in a real motivational and inspirational style which helps a lot. Following his program has helped many to maximize their health, performance, lifespan, energy and look and feel amazing and eliminate fatigue.

The key to the program is:

- Eating a predominance of alkaline-forming foods

- Eating foods with a high enzyme content

This is primarily achieved by eating a mostly plant based raw foods diet. He is happy for people to go for a 100% raw foods diet but suggests that aiming for about 80% raw and 20% cooked is more realistic for most people.

Much research over many years has proved that acid forming foods (i.e. foods that leave an acid residue after metabolized by the body) make the body prone to all sorts of disease, and deplete the bodies energy. Alkaline-forming foods do just the opposite. They leave an alkaline residue once metabolized by the body and are conducive to health and energy. A healthy acid/alkaline balance combined with a good supply of enzymes will greatly boost the energy and health of all.

What Are Enzymes?Enzymes are proteins that accelerate metabolic reactions in the body. They are involved in every single bodily function from digestion and thinking to heart function. The 3 main categories of enzymes are digestive enzymes (ones that work on food digestion), metabolic enzymes (involved in every other bodily process), and food enzymes (enzymes inherent in living foods). Enzymes are the key to life. Without them, you die. And because they are used up in metabolic processes, you must replenish them if you wish to live a long and healthy life.

Why Are Enzymes Important? Many of the intractable diseases have two causes. The chief culprit is enzyme deficiency from undernourishment. Enzyme deficiency sets the stage and predisposes the body to ill health. A deficiency of enzymes speeds up the development of cancer, heart disease, arthritis, premature aging, as well as many other conditions

Yuri also gives a great list of super foods, a great meal planner, lots of delicious recipes, what to do when you go to a restaurant and the whole change over transition from what you are used to, to a new alkaline-forming enzyme rich diet

There is even a section on high energy foods for athletes who really want to improve their performance.
